Master List ToS suggestions

Hey guys,

Would just like to point out that an official ToS will be publicized in regards to server listings. That being said, I'm more than happy to listen to any suggestions that the community may have.

So, post your suggestions for the ToS below :D

Makes sense, and also provides a counter argument for the people who rage over why their server was removed. It clears the mods of any liability.

Definitely agreed. I've never seen anything saying that someone can't host a server where they aren't strict on hacking, but apparently this rule has existed. If the server software came with a ToS file regarding the master server, I'd have been a little less upset about the outcome.

There should be a ToS, but you should be allowed to advertise websites.

I'm gonna open a server for a nice community which has already 2 servers on other games soon, so I advertise our community so people check out the website / forum and the other servers too.

Makes no sense if it wouldn't be allowed.

There are quite a few servers that have "griefing allowed" or "griefers welcome" or use custom server scripts or use custom server software (non-vanilla) and have staff that use special commands and such.

I don't really see why endorsing hacking is so bad. I don't think pyspades would even exist without hacking - I sure havn't seen any design artifacts!

Hey guys,

After a few recent events, iv been thinking we need a Terms Of Service in order to advertise a server on the master server list.

WHY? Some things are NOT acceptable in masterlisted servers, by which i mean not acceptable to the owners of the masterlist. You may or may not be aware the rot server was removed recently for endorsing hacking in the server etc.

My point is, they did not know this would not be allowed, of course you may argue common sense would dictate a ToS to an individual, but as we have seen, perhaps not.

SO, somewhere in the process of adding the server to the master list, there imo needs to be a notification showing a vague set of rules, a ToS.

I.e If your server openly endorses and encourages the use of hacks in AoS, it will be removed from the master list.

Heck maybe we could throw in: your server may not be advertised on the master list for the express reason of advertising another game/product/website (cough* jestservers).

I was the first company to provide free public servers back when there was an extreme shortage of servers per players.
Also they were created for players around the world to compare the gameplay at different locations (they should ping the lowest in their location).
They stay full almost 24/7 so there is obviously some desire for them, and I make no money off of them.
So far everyone who has purchased their own server through JestServers has been extremely satisfied with the performance and support.

He is saying you shouldn't advertise on the master server list, not that your servers shouldn't be up.
Your servers are quite nice, I think you host the minecraft server Kyxcraft too. Performance and support is great, but if you are hosting kyxcraft, then I think you swindled the admin on the price...

There are worse people than you when it comes to advertising on the master server list, I remember a website having 10-20 servers with just the website name and 0/8 players ingame.

Have them open a support ticket if they think there is a pricing issue, I'll look into it immediately.

I fail to see how server admins deciding how their server should be run is any business of the fun police.

It's not like if a server allows griefers or aimbots then every other server will suddenly get flooded with them, and if we're removing any of those servers then might as well kill off any build only server since the point of AoS is capping the intel and killing people.

If you don't like things here, there's plenty of other servers

Amazing isn't it? You don't like a server? Well no one is FORCING you to play on it so go to another one.

Ya'know, sometimes I have trouble believing how people can honestly think that every single person on the planet is required, by law, to bend over backwards for 'em.

Simply put, because I doubt the people who make the game and work hard to maintain it want it to be associated with hackers and griefers, especially as the server list is currently on the main site, which makes them look affiliated. It basically gives the game a bad reputation.

I think this would help cut down on servers promoting hacking and advertising products.

TL;DR of my response to you,

Your putting your server up on THEIR master list, at THEIR leisure, on their terms, by their rules.

They don't care about you RUNNING the server, they just don't want it on THEIR masterlist :>
