Rules

Rules

Postby Enari » Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:44 pm

These rules may change at any time! We may or may not post a notification!
It's YOUR job to keep up with changes!

1. Do not grief.
Griefing includes knocking down friendly structures built by other people, trolling, placing blocks in inconvenient places to hinder your own team, abusing the teamkill or votekick system, and many other things.
Just please play the game like it was meant to be played!
Do not go into spectator mode to "spy" or help a team.

2. Keep your name clean
It's ok to have mild swearing in your name, but your name shouldn't be something that's gross or otherwise inappropriate. Names like "Bitchass deuce" and "duck you" are not welcome here. You will be kicked for the first offense. Failure to change your name after the first kick results in a ban.

3. Please keep cursing down to a minimum.
Cursing here and there is ok. Typing a series of curses in all caps is not ok.

4. Do not harass or troll other players.
We really don't need people stirring up drama. If you feel the urge to do that, do it elsewhere.
Please don't tell people wrong or bad advice (i.e. telling them ALT + F4 gives them a weapon, etc).

5. Do not spam. You will be muted.
Do not tell people that hitting ESC or typing /y will give them special powers or an airstrike or something like that.
Do not have petty clan arguments / grudge fights in our server. Take that rubbish elsewhere.
Do not repeat yourself over and over.
Do not send very long messages into chat that consist of repeating characters
Do not type in caps excessively. Some messages in caps are ok, typing a series of messages in caps is not ok.

6. Do not build inappropriate structures.
Sexually explicit structures, Pixel art, Creative / Useless structures. Swastikas or otherwise offensive structures.
Please be useful to your team and kill enemy players or build a fort or something.

7. Respect your admins.
If an admin asks to do something, please do it! If you think an admin was unjust in telling you to do something or acted wrongly on an issue, please make a thread.

8. No hacking or cheating.
Do not ask for cheats. You will be banned.

9. Don't be a dick.
Have some common sense!

Have fun!
Failure to abide by these rules will be met with a variety of punishments depending on the admin.

Is griefing okay if the building is completely useless (like a wall around the CP) or inappropriate?

I usually wouldn't call that greifing. I mean, to me, people who put a wall around the CP usually try to cap the intel by teamkilling the person with the intel. That has been my experience with walls around the CP. So I try to keep walls away from the CP. Talk with your teamates and ask them what the use of the wall is. The CP doesn't need a barreier because its a health tent. Personally find it annoying to have to go through an entrance to get to the health tent.

If there are admins on the server, ask them if it would be ok to take out the wall if you are unsure. If I were on and saw that there was a wall around the CP that was to no tactical advantage, I'd let you take it down.

Also, usually useless buildings are abandoned, at which point you can take control and do as you please. But it all comes down to common sense. If somebody thinks your griefing, you can explain to them that that isn't what you intended and stop if they want you to. I ask multiple times if my team is ok with me removing something I want removed. Communicate with your teammates, if you explain what you're doing and why, they usually understand.

As of now, there is no set punishment for an offense. We admins usually use our best judgement to deal with situations. For openly griefing I will actually dish out a 2 hour ban (it discourages others from doing it much more). I dislike permabanning, even if it is an aimbot, but I will give a long ban sentence for anyone I catch of cheating. Overall, the actual sentence will vary but you can expect all of it to have a reasonable trend.

Usually a permaban for hackers
7 days ban for everything else.

Some admins might be a little bit nicer than i'm :)

According to Enari, we can also ban for clan impersonations (and of course impersonating admins is a big no-no as well).

Hello, I've been banned on MINIT.US today, about one hour ago. I would like to appeal this ban:

Someone, namely Lambell (green team, mine), initiated a votekick against Outrider (blue) "for the lolz"; As he didn't cancelled the vote, I initiated a votekick against him ("votekick abuse") when his expired. mine expired, he replied "lol" on global chat, to which I replied "don't push your luck", he replied jokingly it was skill, not luck, then people seems to have believed I was accusing him of cheating "because I'm a noob who kicks a pro". I explained the entire situation the best I could, then after a few minutes Lambell initiated a votekick against me "because we don't like him"; and won. I was taking the entire thing as a joke (I prefer being kicked for that reason than for being an aimbot user, as it happened the first day I tried the game); but it seems that instead of being kicked I was banned.

If this was just a normal votekick ban without admin being a part of it the ban will expire quickly (30 minutes?) and you should be able to join the server again.

I know that guy. He excessively uses the votekick. He even tried to kick me, again, along the lines of "LOL". Luckily there was an admin present. That guy bears watching.
