For all things AoS!

you could snipe with the shotgun, back in 62 i mean one body shot kill, all your shot would hit one block at fog.
the old 70 shotgun was the best as it was fair.

blocks are say 2 foot

Id just like to point out a block doesnt equal a meter, unless our players are ~8 feet tall. So itd actually be less.

Actually, if a block is less than a meter, its range should be even more.

Sprinting? I was not aware of this.... how do you sprint?

I personally prefer the SMG over the shotgun in any situation. For one, I am not really a fan of the shotgun's slow firing rate, as the SMG can just rattle off shots at close range, making its damage per second higher than the shotgun's, depending on your range and skill levels. As said before, the shotgun is very unpredictable, and you may get kills or you may not. Seeing the shotgun's unpredictability, it's hard to see how people can say they "know" how to use it. do you "know" when it's gonna have a random derp and not kill someone headshot at point blank? I don't think so....

Ah right had my logic backwards. Lets assume blocks are about 2 feet, (bringing our character to a little under 6 foot, or a little less than 2m or so[not sure of the real conversion value, i just remember it being around 3 ft for a meter]).

70x3=210 feet/2=105 blocks

~105 blocks for the actual range of shotgun if were trying to be realistic using joksons stat. Thank god we arnt.

Press shift

And you're right, you cant know luck. However, you can know the odds and causes of outcome, and decide what to do from there. A large portion of using shotgun is knowing when you can win a fight, and when its too risky. Theres no such thing as running away with shotgun, just tactical retreats.

I don't use the shotgun because I've had WAY too many experiences where I've shot a guy who was only about two blocks away (as I KNOW I want to get in close) only for him to not die. Call me crazy, but if a guy is FIVE BLOCKS AWAY, not moving, and I'm aiming DIRECTLY at his torso, one pull of the shotgun should have killed him.
Then the fact that you can also get headshot-one-shots from ridiculous ranges?

It just amounts to a weapon that only kills when it decides to. You KNOW something is wrong with the gun if you're so close to the enemy you could take two steps and just shovel the guy, but then pulling the trigger doesn't kill the guy in one shot. I've had this happen too many times to ever forgive the shotgun.
Are you a tunnel rat or a hunting hound?

Also, play the objective.

What if all the bullets didn't spread so much, and only spread a little.
That could fix things.

1. It's the only weapon that is unusable at long range.
2. It's inconsistent. Sometimes I'll cross map someone, and sometimes I'll get 2 hitmarkers at point blank, just to have the guy headshot me with a semi.

To put it simply, it used to be OP but not many people used it, and because the few that did were really good the weapon was eventually nerfed (maybe too much, maybe now it is balanced, not sure). Since people didn't learn to use it before, lots of people still can't use it and when they try to snipe someone at 120 block range they miss and blame the gun.

Basically people just don't know how to use it. SMG was underused till people realized you could just destroy the enemy's cover.

I've been playing with the shotgun recently, and I must say it's not as bad as some people think.
It still needs a buff and/or the other weapons need a nerf
But I think most of people's problems with not getting kills at close range are because of the way the game handles lagg.
Try it on a server with a good ping and see if you get better results

I think a buff on the shotgun, would be suitable.
It's still pretty good in some cases, like in mini maps.
