The lack of teamwork and what we can do about it

For all things AoS!

Would be good for teamwork if the text was a little easier to see. Like give it a translucent grey background to make the chat stand out more.

What if you was in Pinpoint?
the colors of chat is quite hard as theres no colors fit it best.

It would also be really nice to see names on the map, and names or color coding for squads. Figuring out which dot is which can be nearly impossible.

I think tower of babel is awesome, it could be improved but it really brings out what I consider the ideal AoS gameplay, which integrates building with the action. Ironically Goon Haven does that too, although at first I didn't like it I've realized that some of the most awesome building goes on on those stupidly simple assault maps.

No one does team work since later beta releases. It really is a shame that a wonderful game doesnt have any teamwork in it. The only teamwork i can do is when im on a skype call with my friends. Then we go and play tactically.

Yeah I notice it too. I try to do team work, but hardly anybody does. Same when me and my Skype friends are in a Skype call, we do good because we communicate a lot. I basically agree with LinktersHD.

The point of having a little box behind the chat in grey is so it severely lessens the effect of background colours, but not to the point that it blocks it out completely and reduces your FOV.

IDEA #1

Image

if one of the intel is taken, it'll be removed from the screen, and people will do stuff, hopefully.

IDEA #2

The guy who carries intel can't run. heavy stuff you know. This will mean that taking a few buddies with you will be helpful so he can shoot down attackers.

these two suggestions will make attacking harder, if the enemy actually defends their intel. And many people defending one spot of the map = teamwork

and also more people "needed" to take the intel = teamwork

I hate idea #1. Why would I want those things to be sitting there on my screen doing nothing until someone grabs it for half a second?

Idea #2 is awesome though :D

It's just for people to be aware of that it happend :)
And it probably should be a bit smaller. I made the image rather quickly as you can see :)

I think it would make more sense to have the icon appear when it gets picked up, and possibly for a boxing glove to spring out of the screen and punch all those people who refuse to pay attention!

The language barrier, as mentioned, is indeed a big issue; in modes like babel or zombies, it can be hard to coherently communicate with your team in order to construct a tower or push through a knot of players.

One thing that could work is the ability to ping locations. It works in games like LoL and HoN, where the language barrier is also present; 'attack' and 'retreat' pings are easy to understand and help people communicate without words.

In AoS terms, this might simply manifest as "/ping intel G" or "/ping B4", creating a little glowing dot on allied player's maps and minimaps for a second, highlighting points of interest.

Other issues that hinder teamwork are harder to fix-people seem to prefer maps with largely pre-generated terrain so they don't have to build bunkers or dig tunnels, so there's a lack of cooperation in building. This one cna probably be fixed only by server admins changing their map rotations.

People also seem to care more about KDR than advancing team position; there's less cooperation when moving up to capture intel or cover other players. Incentives to help other players might help; damaging an enemy a few seconds before they die might award half a point; or an assist might restore a bit of HP or ammo. Capping intel or capping a control point could also be incentivized by awarding more points, or granting a temporary buff like increased damage or a temporary HP increase.

Really, though, it's all up to the community to work together more. Be a good example to people you meet-back them up, show encouragement, build awesome structures. With luck, they'll pass in on to someone else too.

I think we can do nothing to the lack of teamwork.
it's all like when I play a COD match, with random people (you know what i mean, matchmaking system), and even if you plays tactical gamemodes, you still don't have Teamworks.
because you are alone. Because people don't know your style of fragging, and what are you planning, how will you react to stuffs...
It''s all pubbies stuff :|

So, my solution: Findout yourself a teammate, a squad, or even a group that understanding each other. Play teamworks at there. Or even a team full of your friends.
