Well, two people doesn't seem like a lot.. over at urban terror they have 31 developers. I think it would be a good decision to recruit more programmers.

The thing is that Urban Terror is a company and Ben Aksoy is not :P

Once again, Ben Aksoy is not a company. When he decides to make a company (whch he has tried), I'm sure he'll get more developers.

For a long time, pyspades was a third-party project developed by reverse-engineering the protocol, but this changed after I joined the team. Now it uses some of the original code to make it fully compatible. Right now, the vanilla server serves as a reference implementation so we can be positive that scripts and whatnot aren't going to interfere, however, we are slowly deprecating it for pyspades, e.g. the OpenGL client won't use the vanilla server, but a pyspades branch instead.
