Rifle No Longer As Accurate (Plus a Small Rant)

Am I the only one who notices this? I've always considered myself to be a good player, but now, after the .75 update, my game seems to be really off. Shots I would have normally made just aren't hitting. There have been times in the past when I had missed with every shot in a clip, but the frequency of it has risen.

Surely I didn't lose all of my skill by not playing for a few days.

They did say in the changelog: "better accuracy model (weighted toward center)". I hate to tell you this, Ben, but, while it may be a better accuracy model, it's not better for accuracy.

I have never been one to complain about changes. I started playing during .60, shortly before .61 came out. And I have rarely ever complained about any changes the new updates brought, with the exception of shotgun sniping and the rifle sound being changed. (I miss that heavier sound it had back in the .60 days.) But when a change starts throwing me off, that's when I have to call bulls**t.

Any other riflemen out there getting thrown off their game by the new weapon accuracy?

Reducing accuracy defineatly isn't the way to nerf the guns.

yeah ive noticed this also,im missing 2 out of 3 shots not,when i KNOW the shot would have been a headshot.

Cry more Semi is still the most used and powerful weapon so stop crying. And if the Semi now is made a bit lower
in acc at walk that is realistic and even than it can be tricked and you can make a Headshot easly when walking.

But rifle could have been nerfed with so many better ways, like reducing body/limbshot damage and making rate of fire slower.

Dude, the SMG is shit. My trusty rifle and I made SMG worshipers like you ragequit many times. If you're going to post, at least add to the discussion, like why you think the Rifle should be nerfed. Instead, you just talking about how much the SMG is the best and how it's the most used weapon, even though I seriously doubt that.

First of all, Ace of Spades was never meant to be realistic. I thought that fact was made painfully obvious by the game itself. Then again, I guess some facts sink in a lot slower than others.

Secondly, the rifle was never 99.9 percent accurate. I have used up entire clips trying to headshot one lone soldier in the distance before. Lrn2UseYourBrain. And speaking of which, if you had ever met me before the rifle accuracy nerf, you would never use that "Lrn2BeSkilled" phrase to me. As the rifle is now, I could probably still steamroll you in a match. As for challenge, it is up to the other players and their skill to provide challenge. Challenge should never be provided by uncertainty with your weapons.

1 - Compare Ace of Spades to real life
2 - Say that skilled players who are now thrown off by the new rifle accuracy is unskilled
3 - Say suddenly inaccurate weapons are part of the challenge
4 - Say that anyone who contradicts you has no life

To be honest I've not noticed the difference. I'm still as accurate now as I was before the update. And this is coming from a person who has been using the rifle as their main weapon since the days when it was the only weapon (apart from grenades) in the game.

I'm honestly disappointed that we're going down this route again. Hasn't Ben taken notes on what happened with 0.53? Not to sound like an as­shole, but it's almost like he doesn't listen to the community at all.

I like the change. In .70, the rifle was the best gun in every way, and I only ever used the SMG for the fun of it. Now I switch between both for actual practical purposes. I still get plenty of headshots with the rifle. If you're truly skilled enough, the offset accuracy should only make you miss shots like half the time, which is a reasonable nerf to me. The lazer pinpoint accuracy was just too overpowered.

Stick with it for a while. Back when Ben did this in .52 everyone had gotten used to it by the time he added it back.

I think the only fair way to increase the skill it takes to get a headshot without players getting frustrated is to add bullet drop. Modify the tracers so they incorporate hit detection, add gravity, and bam all our problems are solved.

I think this is a pyspades server issue, since the models were changed. Ben said something along those lines. Most of my headshots didn't register when I was playing on 0.75 servers and I usually don't miss. :/

This means all the guns are pretty inaccurate due to rubberbanding, but SMG is doing fairly well since you can spray with it. Everyone has a different style of play and all weapons have their ups and downs so please don't start a flame war.
