Disable fog?

Postby otep » Fri Mar 09, 2012 3:26 am

Just wondering if I can disable fog, I personally think fog looks really ugly... :/ ...Looks way too gloomy.

No, using an outside program to disable the fog is cheating.

That would be cheating, so no. With mat^2's new client that should be ready for the 1.00 release, the fog looks 10x better.
Current client vs. mat's OpenGL client:

Bottom right is the OpenGL client.

In a while, as I said, by the 1.00 release. We're waiting for 0.75, so that may not be for a while. You never know though :)

Won't having the fog so far back make rifles incredibly over powered?

Rifles could only shoot as far as the fog line. The bullets simply dont travel any further than that. Removing the fog will just make people wonder why theyre bullets arent touching far targets

Suggested many times, always slammed. The fog is there for a reason, leave it alone.
Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, the game's made of voxels so it looks terrible anyway.

Bottom right is the OpenGL client.

That fog looks 1000x times worse than the one we have now. Looks EXTREMELY horrible in gen maps (watch Openg GL test 5).
