Instead of waiting for new updates and paying for openGL...

For all things AoS!

It's funny, people who suggest games go Free To Play always whine about it in the end...

Also, the only reason updates aren't rolling along really fast is because of the lack of an auto-update (which is in the works).

Except from all the time he's dedicated over the course of the last year or so to make it. That warm fuzzy feeling you get from a job well done only gets you so far.

I think instead of jumping straight into the pay-to-play model, they could try a donation model similar to over at Bay12 with Dwarf Fortress. If that doesn't work out, then they can always try other methods of monetising the game, like adverts and pay-to-play.

The thing with pay-to-play is that the game would lose a lot of the fanbase because the average age must be around 12 or so. However, it would also lead to a lot of the undesirables (griefers, trolls and 'hackers' - I use that term loosely because they're just script kiddies really) moving on, which can only benefit the game.

Regarding the TF2 thing, you do realize it initially DID cost money, right? And it only went F2P once they could afford to keep it alive with the hat market thing.

why does everybody think this?! if a hacker wants to hack the game he will go buy the game. look at all the CODs, counter strikes, and battlefields. full of hackers.

if anything it will make it worse, because the playerbase will be down.

I would rather watch a short ad, just as long as it wasn't excessively long.

I've said this a lot of times already; why doesn't Ben just use adfly links for the download link of AoS? What's wrong with that?

Why would you be doing that?
I'm sure Ben doesn't give a duck that you aren't playing so it's not like it will have an effect

By that post, i just mean that AoS is the only one free game that i like! I want it to be free, and i am sure Ben and other guys don't want to loose a big amount of players. I know about that payable and free versions, but i'll just hack it and play on premium for free ;D

Already started it before it was cool. Been almost 3 weeks since I don't play seriously(only 2 times, and each was, like, 2 minutes? just to check a kv6 model), but yeah, it was really more of a lack of interest.

I did this even before you, about a month ago, meaning that I am by far the coolest here.
Just saying.

Going on strike about a game going to be paid? How sad. I'd be ok with the free version if it wasn't a time-trial or something like that. "Moonkey has disconnected: Guhuhu, I quit AoS. Reason: Immaturity." Last of S's feeble strike isn't going to do much. What are you going to do? It's like working at a coffee shop and going on strike demanding free coffee for employees. Even though you don't even work there. *sigh*, time to move on. There are greener pastures, Since AoS is a warzone on the battlefield and on the forums :p. *drinks coffee*.

I suggest learning to read before making an account here.

It's not immaturity at all. The people in the strike have quite a few good reasons of doing it. And, as he/she said, the strike will indeed be effective. If more senior players join the strike, AoS will be closer to having only noobs and hackers left in its gamer population, and that's not what the developers want at all.

Yeah, it might seem feeble because we haven't gone to the public and wave it all over their faces. I'm not trying to start anything against Ben, but trying to push a quicker update out of him.
