Ways to implement teamwork

Postby Pvtrex » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:57 pm

Talk about SIMPLE ways to implement teamwork. I like the rewards system that bf3 has but that would to much to code. I don't like the hundreds of guns and customizations that bf3 has but I like the way players were forced to do the objective. So yeah post stuff that would be easy to implement.
You just gotta love that feeling when you're using a smg and you flank 3 rifle players huddle together in 1 spot.

Squads are only good when people know how to use them. Squads should stick together and when ghey charge they should know 1 guys has to stay alive and be the spawn. One time I said join squad 1 because we needed 1 more guy to assault the other team the immediate answer was how do u join squad? I told them type /squad 1. they typed: ./squad 1. That's the problem with squads newbies that don't understand commands.

Yeah, you right, squads maybe can be selected like weapons or team, pressing (example: O key) and selecting defaults squad names (Alpha, Delta, Fenix, Deuces, etc)... but other ways to implement teamwork... let me think that xD

you got a point artic, but when I watch the old gameplay videos in beta 0.21 I'm so envious of the people who played it. Maybe when aos goes P2P there will be less grieferd and hackers.

.21 certainly didn't have it's lack of hackers and griefers. If you go to the right server you can pretty much recreate that stuff.

I think squads, just without the spawning would be nice just to organize.

Optionally, you couldn't spawn on a teammate if they were within X blocks of enemy territory, or X blocks of an enemy player.

But then it could be used as some kind of "radar": If your teammate can't spawn on you, it means you are close to an enemy. It would be hard to exploit, but I can see how it would be exploited.

how about when we have to register we have a win loss ratio? That would force players to win. But there might be more cons than pros.

Good idea, like death/kill but lose/win, or maybe register an intel taken ratio (more intels, more wins)

Give players buffs when they're in radius of freindly players. The more players in one radius, the higher the buff multiplier.
The buffs could be stuff like defence and accuracy boosts

Maybe once you choose a team, you have to choose a squad as well, just like you choose a team. There would be a list of the squads and who is in the squads. You could also switch squads at any time by pressing the G key for example, like we switch weapons and teams.

In TC maybe the control points determined the "border" between your territory and the enemy territory.
In your territory you can walk normally , in enemy territory you take attrition , -1 health every 3 seconds. That would destroy lone wolfing and would give people a motive to actually capture territory.
The motive would be be able to cap the enemy base without huge attrition.
Ashamed to be brazilian , monarchist.

This is actually a good idea, pairing it with the buffs Leon suggested might be good.
