"Pay 2 Win" models usually result in community backlash.
Maybe it could be like Minecraft. MC has Classic, which is just an older version of the game that you can play for free. Then there's the main, still developed version that you have to buy.
Pros:
*People might find the game, play the old version, and want to buy the full one
*People who don't want to pay still get to play
Cons:
*Lots of people won't buy the full one because there's the free one
That's actually not a bad idea. Not bad at all.
I just hope, however it ends up, that I can still play LAN. But I don't think charging for the game will maximize profit.
