Shotguns are for people who hide, really. Just jump and shoot.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.

run your self a squad of 2 rifles, 2 smg and a shotty on INF maps.

Use 3 rifles and 2 smg on CTF attack.

CTF Defence is 2,2,1 again.

TC Offences is 3,1,1 with the properly built walls.

Shotguns are important parts of the attack and defense situation of battle. The shot gun player is not a "rush" guy, or a "point man" he is the guy you put in key positions to maintain control of the grid. He stays low. He is an ambusher.

The man or woman behind the shot gun should be thinking like a swift, ninja sort. You're not some one who operates on fair ground you make the battle unfair for your enemy.

Infact that is true of all combat, but shotguns especially. If i had a Shot Gunner with me on every deployment to defend or attack, i'd be so happy.


Except that it doesn't work. Not when you take 3 shots to kill that guy 10 blocks away.

I agree with lehma18, the shotgun was a pretty bad idea from the start, we already had an SMG, and the nature of this game is just too long distance. the shotgun is alright though, the biggest problem with it is probably its accuracy, you never even know if you hit anybody usually either.

on some maps the shotgun can be very good, but on a lot of them it is also just bad and not really worth using. probably the shotgun class should move 5-10% faster or something, and then also have some little changes to it. just do not make it like the .75 shotgun, it was too easy to get kills with that.

The shotty just needs to be tweaked to a point where it serves as a weapon that always does high damage close-range but has a drop-off at mid to long range. It sounds simple, but we've had the shotty for a long time (7-8 months?) and it has always been broken in some way. Imo, it doesn't have to be realistic, it just has to fit into a niche.

Hopefully the auto-updater will lead to a faster correction of the shotty. Either way, it's still fun to use every once and a while.

The SMG should be fired like a semi-auto rifle at the head. Really deadly at mid-range, 3-4 clicks and the guy is dead.

Shottie should be used at like 10-15 blocks max. Over that, and you're screwed. Unless you get lucky.

The rifle can be used any way.

The shotgun is useless in %95 of all the maps because you need to engage at mid-long range.

The SMG is useless cause it normally takes a full clip to kill someone, and you only get a few clips. Fix this by making it more accurate.

The rifle is stupid, because it takes 3-5 shots to get a headshot normally, cause of the accuracy.

All the guns are too inaccurate. It's BULLSHIT! We need more accurate guns, the whole game is now based on luck.

The SMG is OP'd actually.

Control your muzzle climb better and edit mouse sensitivity until you find one that really works for you and you can down most people in 2~8 bullets. 12~18 if they're hiding behind most walls.

Shotgun shoots goddamned cotton 95% of the time, regardless of range.

I can use the rifle properly. Got 115 kills in about 20 mins just now, on free-for-all. But I don't like how my SMG bullets miss the mark most of the time.

I wish I could choose to shoot the SMG in bursts of 3. That would be really nice, to choose between semi, auto, and burst.

Dude, it takes a few headshots for a death, with the smg. That could give you about 45 kills one life. If the shotgun isn't good on 95% of the maps, make some maps that are good for it.

Your solution is to aim for headshots, even though the SMG is not accurate for anything else except spray-and-pray?

And I should build some maps for better shotgun usage. Well if thats the case stop whining about AoS not running on your netbook and BUILD yourself a better computer.

And while you're at it build a better map so the rifle does not need an boost.

And while you're at it decompile AoS and fix the problems yourself.

And the game actually has two close-range weapons and one long-range weapon. SMG's are SUB-MACHINE-GUN'S. Like Uzi's and MP5's. The vanilla SMG is actually a MP5. Used for close range combat. We really should have an assault rifle for mid-range combat.

Anyway, it seems the best, most accurate weapon in the game is the spade. Maybe I should make a map for the spade...

Shotgun is good if you use strategy.
I got 75 kills and a streak of 20 in hallway today. ( With nades )
Try ambushing and using nades.
The nades should be used for out of reach target so it's like your medium range weapon and demolitions.
( God I love grenades! )

Try using grenades with the shotgun and getting close, about 10 blocks.
You should always get the kill.
Don't forget to try and use stealth.
