What's up with people complaining about "COD kiddies"?

Postby DynomicPierre » Sat Jul 21, 2012 3:10 am

For the past year or so I have played AoS, the chat section of the game was typically pretty clear, I saw the occasional argument or conversion between but this was it. I don't know what is up with this constant complaining about "COD kiddies" and other nonsense that really doesn't deserve that much attention, but I am sure something besides whining about it on the forums will help the situation.

If it's the fact that players from foreign games (coughCODcough) are coming to AoS, this is a little stereotypical. I played COD : FH, COD 2, COD 3, MW2, MW3, Black Cocks, etc. and I'm not some 7 year kid with 1st grade level grammar and a unstable and immature attitude. If it's a skill thing, ridiculing others for "lacking skill" or being "noobish" is hypocritical. All the games I am good at now, I used to suck at, and I'm sure that applies to everyone else. We had to learn, make mistakes and get better, putting less advanced players under the bus is not the answer to the "lack of skill in players". Just let them play, and let them learn the same you did, or try to help them out.

I don't know what else is the matter with this streak of complaining, but it has to stop. This isn't something I'd expect out of AoS of all places.

I think we are mainly talking about attitude, not skill. Most people don't flame others about skill, since most of us were at that skill point at some point in our AoS gaming lives. Its just that there are all these people who just want to rack up as many kills as possible, while being as antisocial as possible. No one cares about teamwork, and all you find are little whiny babies who cry when you kill them and call "HAXXXXXORZZZZZZZZZ" because you killed them twice in the same life.

Pretty much what I'd say

Well, yeah, sadly, thanks to the gaming community, kids (Like me) are suddenly thought up as an immature, grammar and spelling-less child who has nothing else to do and just screams in chat "HHHAHAAAAXXXXZZOZOOORTGNJSKLNSGMBO" or something like that. It's a bit of a stereotype move, which kinda makes a game not that fun when people are yelling at you for your voice only. I mean, I would go to a Tf2 server, kinda scared to use the voice chat because I don't know whether they'll hate on me or not. And for the foreign gamers part, *Cough* no offence to foreign gamers, but there are more foreigners in AoS than little kids. I don't know about you guys, but when I find a server with more foreigners than actual English speakers, I go crazy. Back to the subject, I find others worse than little kids. The new players in AoS is kinda like how Tf2 when F2P, more noobs and jerks, which makes the community worse, and just plain annoying. So, long story short, I just find it stupid and stereotyping when someone yells at a little kid for being in a game, because, then, you'll never know if he's mature or fun to play with or not.

I'm 13, and my age has only been questioned/held against me once (it was a sucky Nuclear Dawn server)

I've played Every CoD except Cod 1 and Black Ops 2. It's not so much the fact that the "CoDKiddies" play CoD a lot, it's more-so that a large portion of them suggest that AoS be just like CoD. I've even seen some out right say in the suggestions section that it be more like CoD, which the majority of players do not want.

The term "CoD Kiddy" has become synonymous with whiners, hackers, cheaters, basically immature players, players you don't want playing with you. Just because you play CoD does not mean you are a "CoD Kiddy", it is the way you act that determines this.

As it was said before, I think this term came about when people started suggesting this game become more like CoD with "moar gunz".
