Freaking great game, gotta say. I wasn't that new into roguelikes when I tried it out (meaning the ASCII graphics looked nice for me at least), but I still needed to get my fortress destroyed by god knows what. Hippos...
Been playing it a mere half a year or so now. Still quite marvelous game, and offers quite much challenges by it's own to beat me up.

Has anyone tried other roguelikes? Like ADOM, Unreal World, Liberal Crime Squad, Cataclysm and so on.
If not, freaking go for it. You start respecting indie games more than you would even think.

Haha! Time for Dorf Fort! Anyone else excited for the upcoming update? Adventure modes about to get a lot more fun! Anyone have any adventure mode stories? I generally play fortress mode until my fort gets destroyed and then I'll go explore the ghost filled fort with an adventurer.

Fun?

I've never gotten around to trying adventure mode. I've always been too enthralled in the experience of fortress mode to even try it. I've heard some pretty good things about it though, so I'll definitely check it out when the new update rolls out.

Yes dude! You should try Brouge and DoomRL, both pretty sweet ASCII rougelikes.

I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men.

The new update sounds great. I finally start playing adventure mode properly when there's some actual things to do, like exploring dungeons and so on. It'll be great and tasty.

Oh and yeah. Novel writing of Dwarf Fortress will get a newer aspect for the adventures!
