Wow bravo. Realy nice. I love these server packs. It is gonna stop us using our mods. Yay that is so great. Yay!!!!!
Wooooooooooooo. That is so awesome. Yay i will be forced to use someones else mods. Yay that is so great. So most of the servers will force me to use shitty mods made by SIMOX. Yay he is the worst modder in the AoS comunity.

This is so fucking wrong. I dont want to use someones elses fucking mods. This is worse than removing headshot or bullet drop. I mean what the duck is wrong with you people. Server pack are bullshit. They are a piece of shit.

i'm pretty sure popular servers like goon haven, aloha and minit won't do that.
Anyways, are the serverpacks gonna be downloaded into a special mods directory?
And you could add a CSS mod-like menu which makes you press 1 for enabling, 2 for disabling and 0 for dont show me this menu

Okay guys, stop trolling...
The server pack idea was the thing that spoiled Wolfenstein:ET for low bandwidth users.
While this ensures that everyone is playing equally and has the same atmospheric feel and shit,
downloading these files and being forced to use them against your own will can be very tiring, annoying.
(just picture playing with heavy weapons guy soundpack => om nom nom nom nom, gah, gah, SANDVICH, om nom nom nom)
So, they SHOULD be optional, maybe forced only for certain clan matches so you dont see cheaters with ultra-large models.

Oh, and also, 0:14 ITS OVER 9000!!!

For example: I have just made a realy awesome mod that i worked on for a week. I went into the game to test it. I enter a random server and see that my mod is not in the game and that some puny sniper is replacing the rifle. I leave that server and enter an another one and see that the rifle is replace with a piece of shit mod. Then i ragequit and say: "What the duck is with this game. I fucking hate these server pack. Fucking assholes that invented that should kill themselves. Screw this game its a piece of shit." Plus i would be like this:Image

I would quit the game and never come back and i would spread the word on internet that this game is a piece of shit.

PS:Then there would be no need for the mod section. So yeah screw server packs.

Wow, nerd rage ftl.

I'm not too bothered by the mod packs because I don't mod, but if I understand it right and don't make a knee jerk reaction (looks above), then I can see that most servers will probably not enforce it. I can see the benefits in clan matches or certain themed servers for sure. I can also see the benefit in it stopping people cheating with weapon skins.

POP UP NOTIFICATION:
This server have enabled server packs. do you want to install it?/y or /n
EDIT: In the menu of the OpenGL settings, add this:
Code: Select all
Enable notifications:
-Always enable server packs:
-Always disable server packs:

That is a perfect idea. Expecialy for people that like normal skins or they want to use theirs.

I got the best idea. Let us choose OpenGL (for better computers) or Voxlap (for a little bit older computers). It will run on any grandma's rig then.

I have OpenGL 2.0 so i'm probably not going to have any problems running it.

Most computers use OpenGL graphics cards anyway.

BTW, the fact that the new engine is going to be OpenGL also means that the game is going to be ported to Linux.

Plus, the new server packs look so awesome.

Just a question that is in a certain way off topic. Are shaders this OpenGL. My PC has a 1.4 shader.

The new engine is amazing, but i have a problem. I just re installed Windows, installed new graphic drivers(i downloaded new to have open GL.), but when i done that, restarted my pc, i had 4 bit colours, and when i tried to change them, an window showed saying ' you have too new drivers ' (or something, my english sux). Then, I made my card use the older drivers, installed before. I dont know how to install openGL, please help me :( I really want to play AoS!

I have Radeon 9200 SE.
