Arms!

For all things AoS!

Re: Arms!

Well I guess I'll have to stop making weapons with arms though they look 10x better than this. it's nice additon but arms should be editable and separate for grenade, spade, weapons. It's ok if player holds grenade, spade with 2 arms in one spot, but when weapon is held like this... it looks plain silly.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to make a new thread...

There will be an option for people who like bounded cubes more. So don't bother making another thread for it cuz it will be locked quickly.

TheSifodias wrote:Wait a second, remember guys, these are the standard thin, two block arms that most good modders usually add a couple of layers to make thicker. If this was based on our current model size, the arms should be far smaller. Does this mean that voels in-game will be alot bigger? I shudder to think of what would happen to our best guns if I'm right..

That's the player model arms that you see. That doesn't affect weapons.

Then let us hope there is an option for arms too.

Maybe we just haven't imagined the new arms being rendered in bound cubes.

It's far better than having a brown/grey arm visible in third person and the fact that it matches the player's color.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

SIMOX's arms are barely visible in third person, cause he's just a modification professional.

But I do like them being your color.

This is the only upside. Why weren't Zeke and SIMOX at least asked to do the arms? I know they could make it work.

And F**k that font...

one question...WHY. Noone asked for this, and this looks horrible.

Well great, there goes all the fun modding because now we have to have these static unrealistic arms jammed into it.

i don't like arms to begin with. i like it better to have guns with no arms but that's my personal opinion.

I think that it will be fine. This reminds me of wave respawning and how everyone was expecting it to completely ruin the game. Not only did wave respawn not break the game, it was also much more significant addition. A first-person view of the player's arms will not change gameplay whatsoever, so it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I just wish that the weapon balance could be fixed and things like this could be pushed off for after .76.

I still hate wave spawning, and aesthetics matter when it looks bad.

It's ben's game and he can add them. I for one like them and think that it is a good addition. They could use a bit of tweaking but you people need to stop freaking out over something that is being tested.

Considering weapons sway a bit already when walking I doubt the arm is static. Stop making terrible assumptions from 1 screenshot. Modding should not take priority over development of the default game.

Let's hope he adds an option for arms, like with bounded cubes or regular cubes.

That's all I have to say.

Okay, lets do a little comparing here.

Now take a look at what Ben has in store for us now:

Now take a look at a perfect example of what the community both wants and needs:

http://puu.sh/E8Ti

Now notice how the first image gives the player a huge blindspot. Then look at the second screenshot and picture it in-game. I think we could all agree you would have more room to see.

Lets start by looking at it detailed wise. Which looks much more appealing? The big blob or sexy arm?

Personally, I would prefer the arms that I showed and provided you guys with. The others wouldnt be so bad if they werent so plain and big. Too awful lookin. As I really start to look at it, I kinda like it. Fits in with the soldier player we have. I'm gonna be in the middle either way.

I oppose the idea of arms in general, but if it must happen, Zeke's is the way to go. I mean, arms would offer a little bit of realism that would wear off in a few days. A side affect, however, is that modders would have to take twice, or even 3 times as long to edit the arms.
