Chapter 1: Introduction
Hello, fellow Ace of Spades player. Due to the repeated topics about unsavory behavior, I've decided to write a guide, to help players with these problems. I'll break it into different chapters, for different topics. I welcome any feedback, and will even put your advice in, if it's good.
Chapter 2: Trolls
We've all run into them, and since they're lower on the list than other annoyances. First, evaluate how the troll is acting, if he's just not using proper grammar, give him some slack, we were all there one time. If he's making generic insults at the other team or a person, just give him a little nudge, and say something like "Hey, don't give (insert team color here) a bad name", or something semi-serious like that, and they'll relax a little. If he doesn't stop there, give him a little more serious commands, or even plainly say "stop". Keep it to team chat, if he's on your team, as to not clog up everyones screen if he spams you. And if he continues, and you deem it necessary, start a votekick, for "Immature Behavior", or something along the lines of that, but don't be an idiot about it.
Chapter 3: Griefers
With griefers, there's not much to say. Try to stop them in team chat, but all you can really do is do a votekick. Make sure to point out evidence, in open chat, so the other team (and focused members of your own team) understand what's going on.
Chapter 4: Campers
Campers are a controversial subject, so I'll do sub-chapters to help you understand and differentiate between the different kinds of campers
Chapter 4, Part Two: Home Base Campers
Home Base Campers, as I call them, are people camping their own base. These guys aren't doing anything wrong, as they're playing a usually neglected role, which is defense. If you get repeat-killed by them, use a different route into the base, such as tunneling, or tell your team about him, and rush him with a wing man or two, that should get the job done.
Chapter 4, Part Three: Open Area/Mid Map Campers
Open Area Campers, in my terms, are people who are camping the mid map, away from the two spawns/bases. These guys are slightly more annoying, but use the same tactics as Home Base Campers, and get a teammate.
Chapter 4, Part Four: Base Campers
Base Campers, a slightly different style of camping than spawn campers, are people who aren't camping your spawns, but are camping your spawn area (such as right outside a base). With these guys, it's usually better to go alone, as multiple people rushing him will look too obvious. Sneak around where he's camping, and take him out. If someone is doing this consistently, then politely ask him to stop. Don't votekick for this, though, unless it's an extreme case.
Chapter 4, Part Five: Spawn Campers
This is what you were waiting for, wasn't it? Spawn campers are pretty self-explanatory, people who are camping your spawn. These guys are the worst, and I know. First, to deal with them, judge where they are. when you spawn, shoot or throw a grenade in that direction as quickly as possible, and get him. If he's farther away, dig down, and make a tunnel, or make a wall of some kind, and counter-snipe him. After a few times of killing him, your team will push ahead, and the camper will probably move on.
Chapter 5: Hackers
Hackers fall into the same category as griefers, not much to say. Don't openly rage at a hacker, study and observe him. If he's getting headshots from across the map rapidly, talk to your team, and see what he's doing. If your team has an obvious hacker, don't think that, just because he'll help you win, means that you don't need to votekick him. If he's hacking, vote yes on a votekick, or even start your own. People will remember your good view on the subject, and it'll give you a good image in the community.
Chapter 6: Question And Answer
Q: How do I votekick?
A: Use /votekick, and you can say /y to vote for an active votekick
Q: Is there any way to call an admin?
A: Yes, use /admin
Chapter 7: Closing
I hoped you found this guide useful, and I hope that this will better educate forum-goers, and stop repeated threads with the same question. Credit to me (for making it),to TheSifodias (for /admin, and /votekick)
