Have you ever groaned over how a game of zombies went? Ever had to take on humans when their team is bigger than yours and all you have is your spade? This is what I've had to deal with and I'm here to give some advice in...
Tarkaris' Zombie survival guide of Zombies!
Part 1: the basics.
Zombies have spade use, normal movement, and a superjump while humans can build, use kill streaks to build faster, and have gun use. The SMG in all it's OP glory is the weapon of choice for human players, with the semi being the second most used. Let it be noted however, that zombies take NO fall damage.
EDITS:
It has been brought to my attention that humans cannot take fall damage. Also, Zombies recover health whenever they get spade kills while humans get a damage boost if they get a grenade kill.
Zombie Techniques
Superjumping:
is achieved by left-clicking with the spade at your feet. This does NOT work if you hit bedrock but it DOES when you have a roof over your head! The superjump can be used to ambush, ascend quickly, or even dodge to some extent. Here are some methods for using superjumps.
Method 1: Ascend
-Use the superjump to get on top of a building or get over a big wall. Helpful if you have the human intel.
Method 2: Ambush
-To ambush someone, you should either dig a tunnel or a trench, forcing them to get close to you and follow you. Once they start following you, superjump out of your hole and come from behind. Works wonders in the right situations.
Method 3: Dodging
-If someone starts shooting you and you've got a wall or tall building next to you, superjump over it. This can save you from getting hit as your upward speed is really fast. Then you can run or prepare to ambush.
Digging:
Digging will involve you using right click as opposed to left click in order to avoid superjumping. Digging tunnels to the enemy base or sapping stairs and buildings can give you some room to breathe.
Method 1: Tunneling
-You can tunnel under enemy intel and then superjump to grab it. Be aware however, that you will most likely fail to capture the intel if you are seen by a human.
Method 2: Sapping
-Forcing the enemy to build in order to get to your intel or into your base can be helpful, especially if you sap their building projects as they build. Beware though, humans love squad spawning and spawn-killing.
Squad spawning:
If you plan on intel rushing or defending intel that is far from your spawn, squad spawning should help greatly. A "squad mom" that stays underground while the rest of the squad superjumps into the human base to snag the intel can be disruptive, especially since the human team tends to attack rather than defend.
Gun use:
Firearms can't damage humans until you capture the intel yourself. Then that perk only lasts until you die. Be sure to use a semi from long range if you grab intel in order to stop the enemy from advancing and pay them back for making your team suffer. However, even without the intel perk the guns can be useful. You can still use them to destroy blocks! Grenades will do nothing bu could be used as a distraction.
Intel Defense:
The hardest part of being a zombie. If the enemy grabs your intel stopping them is very difficult. Defense require you to either prevent humans from getting to the intel or from attacking you and killing you.
Method 1:
Sap stairs and keep you intel high up if it spawns there. This will slow the humans down.
Method 2:
This one is quite effective, especially with two or more people. Dig your intel as deep as you can. Then dig around it so you have some pillars for cover. Dig and make the room bigger if you can. This will help you survive grenades that humans may throw into your defensive "cave". Once that's done, wait for enemies to appear and take them out using your pillars for cover. Doing this can make the enemy frustrated and buy your team the time it needs to secure the human intel.
