Well, it's possible that you live far away for where the server is located. I have poor Internet, and most of the servers I play on are far from me, so lagging is common for me. You may have poor Internet.

    There's three reasons I can think of why you're lagging.

    1) You live far away from where the server is hosted.
    2) You have bad internet.
    3) Try changing your resolution to 800x600, might not fit your screen but might stop the lag. When I have 800x600, I have no lag, but once I change to the actual size I should have, I lag REALLY bad.
