In my eyes, (and maybe others) yes. Yes, it is. Why? Well, there are several ways to get rid of a hacker. You should never, and I do repeat NEVER, hack under ANY circumstances. What would bring you to do this? Just use the vote kick, /admin, go on the irc and get an admin on, or if worse come to worse, just leave the server. In my own opinion, yes, you deserved to be banned, you hacked to kill hackers, in turn still ruining the experience of the game for others.

Eh, I've had little to no hesitation on kicking out close friends for hacking. (*cough* Dracolth)
If I don't, many more exceptions will have to be made, and people will think hacking will not bring on punishment.
